Flyers at METRA launches are required to be paid club members, and have filled out a membership contact form and signed a waiver form each year. METRA membership dues are critical to the operation of the club. Along with flight fees, they pay for launch equipment, upkeep, fuel, Port-a-potties, Tripoli prefecture dues, and pay the land-owner for the use of our field. Membership will be checked at the RSO table before a flyer can go to the pads. Flyers must also be a member of Tripoli(TRA) or the National Association of Rocketry(NAR), and will need to show their TRA or NAR membership cards upon request at the RSO table. Membership in one of the national organizations is required for flyers at METRA, as they provide the necessary insurance for flyer activities on the field, as well as other benefits. METRA is a Tripoli prefecture, so we recommend joining Tripoli, though NAR only flyers can also participate. Many members join and support both national organizations.
METRA Memberships
Senior Member (18 & over) = $30/year
Junior Member (non-voting & under 18) = $10/year
Membership runs calendar year January 1 thru December 31.
For each member, we need these:
filled out and signed every year. Please bring filled out forms to the field to save time. You may also mail them to the address on the membership form – please send them far enough in advance that the can be delivered and processed before a launch. We will also have all the required forms at the RSO table if needed.
To join or renew your membership there are 3 options:
1) By mail. After filling out the membership and waiver forms above, you can mail them in with a check made out to “Metropolitan Rocketry Association”.
2) You can join at the field. We accept cash or checks for payment on the field.
3) You can pay for your membership online using PayPal below.
You can also pay for your full calendar year HPR flight fees, and save $20! 8 launches, both days = $160; sign up now for only $140, and don’t worry about paying flight fees on the field! Note there are no refunds for launches you cannot attend.
